Tuomo Mertaniemi
Partner | M.Sc. (Econ.), Certified Board Member (HHJ), TMC
Mertaniemi has over 20 years of experience in finance and corporate management, including more than 10 years in the financial sector. He worked at Finnvera, serving as the responsible financier for many growth companies and as Deputy Director of the Oulu office. Before Finnvera, he worked for several years within the Sampo Bank organization. After his career in finance, Mertaniemi joined Lehto Group, initially as CFO and later leading the care construction business unit he established within the company, profitably growing the business to over €130 million in revenue. He exited Lehto in 2020 and has since held board, executive, and investor roles in several growth companies, particularly in the real estate and energy sectors.
Mertaniemi has extensive experience in leading growing businesses and companies, financing, increasing shareholder value, and numerous investment rounds. He possesses a broad network of financiers and investors.
The overall potential of IIN Group, especially in the field of assembly robotics for small products, is truly interesting and promising. We have identified several areas of significantly growing demand where IIN’s products and expertise are competitive. I am happy to support IIN’s advisory board work and the creation and execution of its growth strategy with my contribution. Virta is a Senior Advisor, entrepreneur, and growth coach with over 25 years of experience leading founder-led companies to scale from start-ups to exit. His passion lies in working side by side with ambitious teams — building strategy, securing funding, and driving effective execution to turn bold ideas into successful, high-value businesses.
He has founded and advised dozens of growth companies across HealthTech, ICT, industrial technology, and financial services — completing several M&A transactions, and leading one IPO. As co-founder and COO of Optomed Oyj, Virta scaled the business from startup to € 15 M+ in revenue and a successful main list IPO.
His core strengths include strategic planning, operational leadership, IPR development, and international growth. Virta also serves on boards, combining capital, experience, and hands-on coaching to accelerate growth.
